Introduction
The major goals of management of atrial fibrillation (AF) include the following:
- Prevention and treatment of symptoms related to AF
- Prevention of development or worsening of left ventricular dysfunction and heart failure
- Prevention of stroke due to AF
The first and second goals are achieved using either rate or rhythm-control strategies that will be discussed in this second part of the review of AF.
